Cheap HD player (not Xbox related) & Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD

So apparently Wal-Mart is really trying hard to get an HD-DVD player under $200 to the public. It seems upon hearing this, Best Buy wants to beat them to the punch, offering a $100 player on their website (and in some select stores). The player in question is a Toshiba HD-A2 that is usually priced around $200. The read link at the original posting (Engadget, of course), directs you to an error page. Maybe Best Buy priced it wrong? Who knows, anyone finds out more info, let me know!

As an HD-DVD player owner, I'm upset to hear about Blu-ray outselling HD DVD 2 to 1. Why can't they just use HD DVDs for movies and Blu-ray for computer/media? Blu-ray discs don't even fully utilize all the space they are capable of having (at least that's what they say for movies). There can only be so many special features... plus what about the data integrity issues on Blu-ray, as well as the higher production costs? You can read a little about Blu-ray in my paper I wrote for class, which really just talks about production hiccups, not necessarily what's better.
